Pro Tips

Pronoun Switch = Character Development When a character changes pronouns, pay attention! Boku to ore = gaining confidence. Ore to boku = showing vulnerability. This is often more meaningful than dialogue.
Avoid "You" in Real Life Japanese people rarely say anata or kimi directly. Use the person's name + san instead. Save kisama and temee for anime villains only!
Kare/Kanojo Double Meaning Kare means both "he" and "boyfriend." Kanojo means both "she" and "girlfriend." Context tells you which - in romance anime, assume the romantic meaning!
The Bokukko Trope A girl using boku is called a bokukko. It signals a tomboyish, unique, or mysterious character. Rare but memorable when you spot it!
Ore-sama = Maximum Arrogance Adding -sama to ore creates the most arrogant pronoun possible. Reserved for narcissistic villains and characters with massive egos.
